I think the rods are made so they dont go off thru the metal detectors these days

Yep - good to here teh riding gear did its job and i hear it even held up well and most is useable again apart from your draggins!

Hmmm I guess technology has advanced a fair bit.

Well worth the 200 odd dollers for draggins...protection is the key people :D

Exactly - My leather jacket cost 900 - but if it saves my skin its more than worth it
You cant put a price on safety gear - Dont skimp - Spend the money like Vic did and you will have a far better chance in teh worst case scenario!

Ahh well Vic - Ill have to buy you a cape!

Yeh I need a new pair of riding pants, boots and a new helmet. Reckon the TAC will chip and help offset my costs?

No Chance!

They are a pain to deal with - my cousin was struck by a motorbike which was hit by a car whilst he was crossing to the road - was in hospital for 3 months and the TAC settled on a pay out two years later

well the rod vic has and the plates that are in my shoulder and hand are made of titanium, well i know mine are vic;s rod may be stainless

a quick google search found this
"# Plates, screws, wires, and intramedullary nails, or rods are rarely detected.
# Implants made from titanium and cobalt-chromium are much more likely to be detected than those from stainless steel."

Maybe I should find a magnet and see if it sticks to my leg. I can just see a bunch of fridge magnets hanging off me.

Hey Phong, get some riding boots that give rigid protection over and above the ankle. There's too many types and brands to cover but most of them give good ankle protection which is a supreme need if you get hit. My draggins didn't do squat for the impact but they are great if you come off at speed - they'll save you getting a skin graft from your butt to replace any skin shredded off from a bitumen slide.
You also can't go wrong with a spine protector.

Hehe thanks for the advice Vic :D. Netrider has also taught me that. I am getting a spine protector but never had the chance to go get one. Boots will have to wait :( got other things to pay for/off. Hopefully I can get one of each before I get T-boned or come off at speed...*fingers crossed*
