Dear Fordmodders,

As you are no doubt all very well aware we have witnessed one of the most devastating events in Australian history unfold with the bush fires in Victoria. Fordmods has tonight made a donation of $200 to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire appeal.

http://www.redcross.org.au/vic/services_emergencyservices_victorian-bushfires-appeal-2009.htm

We would like to urge anyone who can spare a few dollars to make a donation in an effort to assist those who have lost their homes, family and friends. All major credit cards are accepted with a minimum (tax deductable!) donation of $5.

I'll definitely be throwing in a few dollars. The victims of these tragic fires certainly need it.

Can I also suggest to people they consider donating blood. All it will cost you is about an hour of your day. A small price for a potentially life saving gift.

Quote:
from Red Cross Blood Bank website:
"Blood stocks in Victoria are at adequate levels to meet current demand and the Blood Service is not presently calling for urgent blood donations. However, we will require your donation to support ongoing needs."

I will be donating soon. I would love to donate blood, but being thalasaemic, I kind of can't give blood.

I have just donated...my workplace are matching every dollar donated by an employee. So looks like my donation just tripled in value if the government matches the dollar I donated further more.

Please do not donate goods

We are not accepting goods because it often costs more to collect and transport than to purchase from local businesses. These businesses have often also been badly impacted and can benefit from the activity. Currently we are focused on people's immediate needs. If we identify a specific need we will make a public call.

Straight from the Red Cross' website.
Cash donations are the best way to help, unless you are local.
