For some reason i couldnt attach the images so i put them in my gallery..

i have access to a guillotine and hydraulic sheet metal bender.
A few people have commented on the heat shield over my extractors and i was wondering how many people would be interested in one...

All material 304 stainless, 1.7mm wall thickness

It would be made out of 2 pieces, a 60 x 60 angle that would bolt onto the head using the existing exhaust bolts, and will have nuts welded to the underside of it.

And the main heat shield piece, which has 2 bends and will bolt to the angle, the angle and the heat shield will both go the full length of the rocker cover, and will be quite rigid with little vibration.

It would be supplied finished with all of the holes required to mount it.
I will also supply the 4 bolts that bolt the shield to the angle.
(The only thing is im not sure about the bolt hole positions on all of the e series, if they are the same or not, so i would probably have to supply them blank to the guys with anything before ef to drill the holes to suit)

And the other thing is that all extractors are slightly different and i would need to know how far from the head they come out so the heat shield will clear them. Which ever are the widest i would make my template. At the moment I have hurricanes and I clear them by about 15mm.

It may need some slight mods on installation on the low side of the heat shield to clear any cables etc that run underneath that area. (eg. clutch cable), it wouldn’t have any problems fitting an ef/el cos that’s what ive obviously designed it to suit.

Costing: i haven’t worked out yet, It all depends on the order qty and the material, and how many I can make out of one sheet, all of which i haven’t looked into yet

Postage also not worked out: will weigh a few kgs,
Package will be approx 600 x 300 x 300, but that has to be measured properly…
Or can be picked up from Liverpool Sydney

What do you think?

Happy: noted and thanks

i cant see it being a problem installing it on a ba, my old man has a ba so i can check that one out. for hole positions and clearance...

the 2 most common grades of stainless are 304 and 316, 316 is almost marine grade and that would be over kill and not to mention much more expensive. 304 is plenty tough enough and also easier to work with, and wont rust or tarnish.

i need to see how many i can make from a sheet and that will determine the price, ill get back soon with a price.

also, the finish on the stainless will be a brushed/polish finish, same as your stainless steel kitchen appliances. so no need to polish it, unless you want a mirror finish, which wouldnt take long to get...

cheers
