Hey guys,

Talk about bad luck, we were on the way to a dealer yesterday afternoon to trade it the festiva on a new car and were about 2km away when the gearbox suddenly shat itself. It happened completely out of the blue with no symptoms leading up to it. I must have really angered the gods!

Anyway I haven't got time to be fiddling around with the mechanicals any more so I'm just going to get rid of it cheap.

The bad:
* Gearbox seems to have died! (low km gearbox $500 or less from wreckers)
* Engine still runs fine (130,000ks) but has very noisy lifters.
I have a complete exchange engine with only 35,000ks which I bought only a few months ago but never got around to fitting. (cost $350, still have the receipt) We were planning on keeping the car after respraying it, hence buying the fresh engine but shortly after we found out there's a baby on the way so we'll need a bigger car anyway.

The good:
1.3l 5 speed manual - VERY cheap to run
resprayed about 12-18 months ago after a carpark scrape (bar the roof)
Interior in good nick
New CVs and suspension last year
Still has rego until August
Power steering, cold AC, CD player

I'm chasing $700 for it complete with the second engine.
If you've got the time and tools to swap the gearbox and engine over it'd be in top condition to keep and drive yourself, or sell it - you'd have to get 3k with the fresh engine, gearbox and paint.

Yeah I just need it gone, the new car is on the way and there's no more room for this one. You know you want it, the engine will fit in the boot, just park it on the street until you need the bits! :P

Here's a few pics I took yesterday. The car is actually filthy dirty and they're not very good quality but as you can see exterior it's in good nick (interior is good too)

For added fordmods nostalgic value, for those that were around 2 years ago this was the car I supposedly died in

Not sure exactly but it's most likely the diff. I rang a few places today and they said the diffs commonly go in them and cause this problem.

I really should spend a few bucks and fix it but I just haven't got the time and a good set of tools and don't wanna be spending more money on it now that I have a new car on the way.

It'd be a shame to have to wreck it but I may end up selling bits on ebay. I just had a look and the power steering components alone are fetching $250...

I had a wrecker offer me $500 for the car today so if no one here wants it I might just let him take it and I'll throw the new motor on ebay

It's such a shame mate. If i had the cash i'd jump on it.
In saying that- you'll double the cash if wrecked.
The demand for parts in US is phenomenal.
