Or we can organise a cruise... "Go get a manual" day... the drive to bathurst is really good I always thought.

Um, as for my useful part of this post... I have a friend thats interested.. but I can't get him to budge just yet... he really wants a manual, but not this weekend, but maybe in a couple of weeks... after driving mine, he really wants one. So if its still here, you'll be hearing from me.

He is also a member on here, just never posts anything.

PS - I was the one PMing you on FF.

Cheers

Hey justfordima,
No problems. I will keep it advertised until sold. If I have it then, you are more than welcome to come grab it :), if it sells beforehand then I guess it is your friend's loss (I need the $$$).

As for the drive from Sydney, it isnt bad. That's why the East Coast Magna cruise is involving Bathurst this year.

Im sure if its a conversion kit, it comes with the bellhousing. Just he meant the T5 with the bellhousing. If not, its not much of a conversion kit?

Cheers

Yes it comes with bellhousing. Generally when you say the tranny fits a certain car that means it has the bellhousing for that car.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to sound stupid but I have a fine spline T5 behind my '79 LTD cleveland at the moment and wanted to put it behind a 4.1 in an XF. I was looking for a bellhousing in particular. Will your conversion bolt up to a 4.1 block? And what does the 5speed ecu control as I dont use one in my LTD?

As Far As I Know, the 4.1 bellhousing doesn't bolt up, because the crossflow engines, or non crossflow engines, had a different looking ones for the autos(thats the only 4.1 bellhousing Ive seen).

The 5spd ecu, control everything in the engine in an E series car. In terms of transission, it has a speedo connectors, I don't think pre EF's or something had ECU's reading the speedo.

Well basically, it doesn't control the gearbox, it only has sensors.

And you wouldn't use one in your LTD, as that was all mechanical, AFAIK.

Cheers

Hey no problem.

As the gearbox is, it will not fit a 4.1 block. For starters, the starter motor is on opposite sides on the 6OHC and 4.1.

Later XF 5 speeds had a T5 so the bellhousing from that *should* fit. I am not sure if the spline is different or not.

As for the ECU it is to control the CFI system. In an older Falcon you could discard it.

I sure wish this would sell, we need rego money!!! I cant understnad why ones priced at $1000 sell, yet my $500 one will not :(
