Summary:

Car is driveable, but has oil pressure issues. After top end rebuild, oil pressure only reaches 1 bar, then drops at operating temp. Should be 2 bar at cold, then 1 bar at op temp. My understanding is this donk will need a bottom end rebuild. Top end is mint, and worked.

Car is straight, bar some dent in the drivers door from a carpark moron. Paint is not so great. Sections of peeling clear off roof, boot, rear quaters, chips on rear RHS. Rest looks ok.

I bought the car from dealer in early 2007. It's always been a fun 6 to drive and tinker with. All that would need attention besides the donk would be a sick paint job, and a reco'd steering rack eventually.

Car will come with factory head unit, clarion front splits, and Aerpro wiring harness for your aftermarket CD player. Also has 4ga cable from engine bay to boot for your amps.

Sensible mods, car looks tidy with the XR rims. Car has been setup very nicely. This vehicle was the easily the best drift car at 5th Gear Motorsport's Offstreet Skidpan Sessions in May and June 2009. Was the only car able to connect every corner, for a continuous drift. Great handling sedan.

Car had been dyno'd for 130rwkw before cam fitted. With a 2nd hand bottom end, or rebuild this one, should make at least 140rwkw +.

Basically an unfinished project that I have lost interest in, several hours spent getting the head and timing case on, and now I can't be bothered to fix oil pressure issues. Sad sale, but this was the most fun car I've had.

Interested in offers, if I can't get an alright price, I will wreck it. There is $1000's of good gear here, but I'm not expecting a lot, so make an offer IF you are interested.

Rules say a price must go in, so we'll start with $2200 with wheels
$1500 with snowflakes

Thanks very much for checking it out.

Cheers,
Neil

UPDATE: $650 ono for car, with engine as is (worked head <100km's old), T5 box, new mounts, diff (3.45 gears LSD with new pinions and axle gear), interior (stock S Pack), rolling on snowflakes (incl spare), plus all spares Need to get it gone eventually!

If someone wants the head, it will be removed on pickup (fairly easy)

gday mate.

cheap for all the gear but a hard time selling with the bottom end..

if you are going to part it out i am very keen on the suspension gear, rims (pending price), and the wade cam if you are keen on taking the engine apart or maybe the whole head (head pending price)

also other bits and pieces depending on the price.

I am located in NSW and have an EF, if you want to minimise your losses then maybe consider me buying your parts and providing replacements off my EF so that you could still sell the car as a complete package after the good bits have gone.

Anyhow let me know if you are interested, I could make the trip out one day

You summed it up mate, am prepared to wreck it, but I've gotta give it a chance to go as a complete car. If I need to wreck it, parts will be sold outright. Would probably need a hand removing bigger items if it get's to that, as there's little space.

It's suspension setup is just one of those combo's that works well together, as suggested by GSA, in Brissy.

I'd be interested in the results from the head if anyone gets it, would be sick to use on a new bottom end.

I could sell the cam seperately, but I have a person in QLD who's also keen. Either way, have no problems getting the cam out, gotta see if it can go as a whole, and see if there's some local interest.

I'm just being honest and if their were no issues with the engine and I had the cash, I would definetly be keeping it, and eventually finishing it. If anyone has a spare donk (and know's a spray painter), this is the car to fit it to.

If I could keep the car I would, re-use this head, and get a shop to build a bottom end up to the same professional standard and start looking in to 'anything is good enough to run' type track days lol. Times are tuff at the moment, and we're gonna go with 1 car for a few months.

just curious, with the oil pressure issues do you believe it would go a continuous 3hr trip home?

Or its pretty bad?

Thanks,
Tim

Just noticed it runs out of rego very soon...

Probably give it a miss... But if you wreck I'll definitely take the LSD (how much would you want for it) and what are the seats like in it (what style)?

Other small items I might be interested in pending prices are:

*Engine & Gearbox KELPRO URETHANE mounts
*Head
*Wade 1636 (if is not a regrind?)

And I can pay for these and come down one weekend with the trailer for this stuff...

Thanks,
Tim

Cheers all, am taking note what you're all interested in. Will let you know should wrecking time arise, and I'll put a price on all parts.

Northerly, not going to talk it all up, but the suspension is still fine, 2 and bit years, about 25k km's on it. Good value non adjustable setup. Has only seen 2 days off street use, and it worked very well.

Timmytim, thruth is, I wouldn't be keen on taking it on a 3 hour trip. It'll make it to anywhere in Canberra.

Seats are earlier S pack, tear in drivers rhs, oil stains on back seat. Still all comfy, and nothing a set of throw overs will fix. If wrecking it, I won't be seeking much for the interior.

I have driven it 5 times since the rebuild. It does go, but is a mixed state of affair. I can't rev it due to the pressure issue, but can definetly tell from the instant throttle response, and the torque at low revs the head is breathing better than a stocker.

Things like the engine mounts are a shame, cuz they're such a prick to get to, and I don't have replacements..

LSD is only a 2 pinion 25 spline jobby, but it's less than a year than rebuild, and very tight. Makes for a very controllable car. If wrecking, will sell LSD and a*** seperate.

Appreciate all your interest fella's, just going to give it a week, then time permitting, I'll start to take the parts off.

Cheers.. looks like I'll be wrecking it when I get a chance, tis a shame but looks like the only way to get rid of it. If the weather is good I'll do my best to start wrecking it this weekend, and will post pics and prices. Bloke at work is keen on the headers, but we'll see how it goes once I list it.

Thanks for your interest.

Just an update, have started wrecking it slowly.

Exhaust with headers has already gone to a mate, and is on his AU.

Have removed rear upper and lower arms with the new Pacemaker bushes, chasing $200.
Have removed rear shocks and coils.. will sell as a set with front shocks and coils, will post pics and prices once I get there as soon as I get a chance. Bad weather, and not much time..

Are the XR wheels proper E series offset or do they run adaptors?
If they are the proper offset ones what price you chasing?
