my mate said it was never dyno tuned to his car. it had a tune programmed and he just flashed it. it was just a generic program or sumthing... so what exatly does he need to do... i dnt know much bout this thing...

IF he has plugged it into his car and used any tunes that are on it, soon as he plugged it in it became locked to his vehicle, therefore cannot be used on any other cars until it is unlocked by capa... anybody can correct me if im wrong, but i feel that im quite right.. so what he will have 2 do is get hold of capa and ask them 2 unlock it OR add me to msn and I can give u a name to get in contact with who will know.. he sold me my flash, and he knows a heap

A CAPA Flash Tuner box does become locked to the VIN of the car it is first used on.

Two things MUST happen before it can be used on another vehicle.

1. The original car (the one it is currently VIN locked to), MUST be flashed back to the factory stock tune.

2. The Flash Box must be returned to a dealer so that it can be reset.

If the first step is not performed, then CAPA cannot reset the box. It must be sent back to SCT in the states to be unlocked. No idea how long, or how much this costs....I had heard that CAPA where somewhat reluctant to do this as well (cant confirm that last point though).

Apprarantly a few people have been caught out when buying 2nd hand flash tuner boxes, becuase the original car was not flashed back to the factory stock tune.

Is it also true that the SCT boxes are limited in the amount of VIN swaps that can be performed?
I seem to recall reading that once they have hit their limit, again, they have to be sent back stateside to be unlocked.
