SOLD (with the car)

Taillights to suit EF/EL with all bulbs replaced with custom made LED arrays. Resulting in a much better result than the LED bulbs you buy from Jaycar/Online.

Each brake/tail light is made from 40 high intensity red LEDs with dual brightnesses (so all 40 work for tail lights dimly, and come on full bright for brakes).

Each indicator is made from 30 high intensity orange LEDs. And each reverse light has 10 super bright white LEDs.

Everyone who was at the last Sydney Dyno day would've seen them on my EL.

They're EF lights, so have the clear indicator/reverse light bezel, instead of teh combined orange/clear bezel of EL lights. The wiring is currently set up for a low series EL. The different is the indicator bulb on low series EL's is a white bulb with a regular bayonet base, while all EF's and high series EL's use a orange bulb with an offset pin bayonet base. I can change this if required to suit your car.

As for legalities, they're not ADR complianced, but meet/exceed all ADR requirements. I've never had any problems with the coppers, or people running up the back of me.

After $200 + P&P for this unique* mod. Note, this includes a LED specific flasher relay so your indicators don't flash too fast.

Notes:
*I won't be making any more of these for EF/EL's Only a set for my BF. So you'll have a one of a kind mod.

Yes it's expensive, but it includes a set of tailights, and there's 160 LEDs in the pair, they're not cheap.

There a crack in the bezel of the passenger side one. The bezel could be replaced easily enough if you're pedantic. But the LED units I waterproofed so there's no problem leaving it as is. You could if you wanted buy a set of those clear tailights and swap the bezels.

Postage won't be cheap as they're rather bulky and will need to be packed well. So pickup is available.

If you dont mind me asking but i am building my own LED tubes and i want to put 20-50 LEDs in each tube and need to know what resistors to use with them on 12v?

Cheers.

Good luck with the sale. Nice set of lights and you never need to worry about globes again.

@stomper
Depends on the LEDs, you need to know the forward voltage of them (depending on the LED anywhere from like 1.2V though 3.5V), and how you're going to wire them (series, paralell, a combo of both). I also did mine using 13.8V as the voltage in the maths to account for alternator voltage, not just the battery voltage.

@prydey
The T series is a mock up. But yeah. It was a FordForums dyno day.

Are these as bright as the normal single globes? cause I can't judge from the picture. I'm guessing there is less power consumption with the LEDs then with the globes?

They're brighter than regular bulbs, and much much much brighter than the LED bulb replacements.

The night pic of the reverse ad indicators shows the LEDs on the left, and regular bulbs on the right. The reverse light is much brighter, and the indicators much the same, but if you were behind them more (or off the the side) they'd appear much brighter.

Rumour has it that FORD make good tailights for e-series - the stock ones.............lol

But thats only if you want to be a sheep and follow what everyone else has..........

What happened about a postage cost and what if I just take the leds as I don't need the actual tail light housings?

No, he changed his mind over the crack. Saying some crap over how it makes them illegal. Yet he couldn't provide any proof of that.

How hard would it be to add more LEDS in it and have them working on the same circuit?

Would they all be the same brightness if I added more LEDS?

you want more LEDs? Truthfully there is really much more room to physically have more.

The way it's made, LEDs are wired in groups of ten (each row), you should be able to add extra rows easily (if there was room).
