Gday fellow blue oval nuts! A mate and i are about to have a drag to see who has the fastest car. we know that they will both stop at 180 but it is the first to get there; good thinking. the cars are a 98 EL pov pack with 150000 on the clock and a 4 speed. the other is an 02 AU XR6 ute with 200000 on it, also with a 4 speed. although the au will have a xr gearing, i think my el will win as it has more weight over the rears and less mileage on it. what do you all think?...

AU will win, but it will still be ugly.

AU should beat you, especially if its got the VCT motor - 172kws, which I think it would.

it probly would be pretty close but i think the AU might pip you off the line and you wont be able to catch it, then again it is a ute so they are heavier.

the 164kw HP was quicker as tested by motor.
im pretty sure it had something to do with the heavier IRS setup in the VCT model.
the HP didnt get IRS, and also missed out on some standard electrics.

utes didnt get IRS, so the 172kw ute would be quicker. but im pretty sure the AU utes only came with the 164kw version till the pursuit AUIII ute which came in limited numbers.

This is not true my parents own an AUII xr6 ute and it has vct.
Also they make 174kw. VCT powered ghia models have 172kw due to diferent exhaust.
