My XG has done 0-100 in 7.5 seconds and hit 180 :D (think it may have almost been on the limiter) only thing I did was tune up (new leads, plugs, etc) and lighten the load a little. Otherwise completely stock as a rock.

1994 i had a xd wagon with a 351 clevo 4speed top loader with a 9" diff(forget what ratio). decided to take it for a run out on the highway one December night got onto a nice long stretch and opened her up . the tacho went up along with the speedo until both stopped working. if felt good driving along with the motor screaming it's tits off(rpm around 7100-7200). then in a split second there was a FLASH of light  (F^&K). i knew what it was, didn't stop, worked my way through the back roads back into town. A couple of days later i was reading the paper, the local cops had a speed trap setup around town and the highways,in the story one copper had clocked a car described as being of red or orange in color and being a wagon of unknown make and model doing more than 230km's an hour.Needless to say my car did NOT leave the shed for 6 weeks

The thing that turned me to Fords many years ago was hangin on for dear life at 140 or so in my 4.2 VC SLE Commodore when an XD or XE BLASTED past like i was sitting STILL!!! Had 4 guys in it and antenna in the middle of the roof.

Yeah, fords are definitely better at high speeds. My XG goes like the clappers for an old Ute. VK commodore tried overtaking the other day. Old XG was cruising at 120kmh, 2300 rpm, and the VK is revving out trying to get past. Put the foot down obviously (wasn't going to let that heap of Sh*t past) and zoomed away. Haha... i just noticed my age was set as 15??? i think I've entered something wrong there. Will have to change haha.

I went for a test drive in a XE Mont 250 Xflow Auto Floored it on a country road and got her up to 210 kph. took it back and brought it. I owned it for over 22 years. Bloody good car too

Beaut XG - I guess that's an amusing story - but I'll tell you flatly now that speeding up when people are trying to overtake - no matter how hopeless they are - is not really on unless you have a REAL good reason to do it.

Hate to sound like a Dad lecture, but I'll tell you bluntly that you might very well die or kill someone or at the very least one day get your head punched in if you keep doing that sort of thing...

If you MUST - and you're still risking getting a head kicking - let them past then overtake them back (safely of course).

Sorry, but there are SOME things I've learned (the hard way) in 27 years of driving.

No worries Greenmachine. I guess it was a bit stupid. But in my defense (and i'm not trying to be a smarty pants here) we were getting very close to to the end of the overtaking lane, and he simply didn't have the power to get past. So it was either hit the brakes and let the car behind ram me, or speed up. However regardless of the circumstances i do understand that it isn't a safe thing to do.

Oh! - yep - that makes more sense (thumbsup) - speeding up when people are PASSING in same direction lanes isn't generally so much of a drama - it's when they're overtaking by going out into oncoming traffic lane that's tricky.
