Hi All
went for my first run down the strip yesterday in the tractor, its a stock poly ed falc auto with headers and an exhaust best run of the night was a 16.5 best 60' was 2.5 best terminal speed was 137kmh (85-86mph) now ive seen stock falcs run mid to high 15s what am i doing wrong? i got 4 runs, tried launching flat in pwr and acon, and tried stalling in both. quickest run was the stalled econ run, highest speed was the unstalled pwer run any tips to make this better? tbh it was abit embarrassing

more so im looking at specific driving tips or things i can do to the car that dont require and cash expenditure i know diff/box/engine etc

Try again next time with the new head from joes and see how ya go.
Did you have some good Premo fuel in it ? Was the spare tyre and crap taken out of the boot ? Did you have dinner before the run ? ( heavier lol ) I suppose its not to bad for an old auto car.

dont sit on the stall for to long, all it will do is heat cook the tranny and converter.
i found holding the brake pushing the gas pedal to the floor for half a sec then releasing the brake gave best times. also use good thin tires and keep them pumped very very well, flat tires are only good for traction, with a auto and long gearing getting traction isnt to difficult. also wont hurt to clean the air filter or even throw a new one in before the run, try changing oil, plugs and leads, if these are old, they often restrict power. keep the car in econ, changing gears sooner will mean you stay in the power/torque. i recon every eb+ e-series has a high 15 in it, just a matter of getting it right

yep pretty much what everyone else has said, except for practice practice practice and more practice.
what pressure are your tyres? how much of a burnout are you doing? on street tryes (not M/T's) you don't want much otherwise they'll get too slimy. i've been racing my 1900kg ba xr8 for 2 1/2 years and have only just nailed the shift points on track to get a PB (mines a 5 speed with 3:73's) keep us up to date with your progress.

times sound about right my au stock went 2.6 60ft 16.5 @ 89 mph. the auto wasnt flash hence the 2.6 60ft and the higher mph would be the little bit more hp the au motor had over the ED.
diff gears would be your best bang for your buck. your not going to go any quicker in a stock family car, the stall speed is too low and 1st gear is too long. if your only mildly keen go 3.45s, but if your serious put in at least 3.73's. you will still do a bit under 2500 rpm at 100kph with 3.73's.
