From what I have heard, there are not many reputable Dyno guys in Newie. There is a mechanic around the corner from my place who has Dyno Tuning on his Sign, so I dropped in there to get the Telstar Blue slipped and a Pink slip for the Lane. When I asked him about his Dyno, he abbruptly replied "Don't have one". "But your sign says" and he piped up and said "I do but I decided not to do them anymore" :? .
I was curious so I kept on quizing him. Long story short is that he shut it down after getting abused too many times by what he called "the f**k 4 cyl brigade". What a waste and this guy seems to know his stuff with the set up and calibration of the Dyno machine from our lengthy discussion on the subject.
Basically, he was getting the "ricers" in there by the dozen that had been reading fast 4's and doing so called "power mods" and then hurling abuse at the guy after they weren't getting the results on the dyno that the magazine "said they should achieve". Funckin ricers, what do they expect to get out of a 1.8L 4cyl s**t box???
So I thought I would try and get this guy back in the game and restore his faith in the old Dyno Machine and mentioned that I was a member of a Ford group and if he would be interested in firing up the Dyno if I could get a few numbers together to make it worth his while.
He seemed to be interested in the idea and mentioned that it was about time he fired it up again as he has been getting a few enquiries and most of the other guys in Newie don't know what they are doing, and that a dyno is only as good as it's operator.
So what do you newie guys reckon, who's interested in having a Dyno day here?
The workshop is TRG Automotive on Pendlebury road, Cardiff in the industrial estate. Seems like a top bloke but doesn't like being f**k around by idiots, especially ricers :P
I recommend this guy also if you're looking for a place to get a Blue Slip done as he was very fair with passing the Telstar.
Cheers,
Mick
PS. No Ricers Obviously, the guy will shoot you on site!

I am currently in the process of organising such a day. Not with this place, but a former business partner of his.

We shall see how many people are keen for this i spose. then we can work from there.

There I go stepping on toes again :P

Sorry Ben, had no idea you were already organising a Dyno day. Just an expression of interest to see who was keen on the idea :) And I hate the idea of a Dyno machine sitting in a workshop gathering dust so close to home

DAT (Dumar Auto Tech) up that way?

I've been there before (took out best n/a 6 cyl with my EL, serious f**k off a VZ SV6 with "thousands spent"), but AFAIK they've moved closer to newy now.

I'm hoping to get the lane tuned next week.....so if all goes well, I can pass on the details to the cruise mods and see where we go from there, but I don't think we will get the numbers unless we get some attendance from our southern friends :P

An EL with the mods in your sig you should be getting over 110RWKW, if not closer to 120.
