someone needs to get over fast and furious

Someone thinks they only use UHFs and people watching roads in movies? :)

Thread is s**t, but becomes s**t when a few people feel it absolutely necessary to chuck in there self righteous opinions, thread goes off topic, people argue, topic is lost.

 evo's are definately good for mid to high 13's stock

and no way a stock lancer could beat you
my friend has an 05 lancer with an exhaust that couldnt beat its way out a paper bag

Depreciation > Falcons

What about XY GTHO Phase III Falcons?
Pretending like depreciation doesnt affect lancers is the attitude of a crack addict, put the pipe down.

ok, well i own (well the mrs anyway) a 2007 2.4lt lancer wagon 5 speed, and it is actually a suprisingly quick car, i am not starting a flame war here so save your breath, the torque of the 2.4 is actually quite impressive and it does get along better then you would expect. but in saying that i dont know if it would beat a std ba on petrol but i know for a fact it beats my work ute (ba 1 tonner on lpg only) quite easily. i raced a vs bommodore wagon V6 auto with cat back exhaust off the lights in the lancer and beat it by around 3-4 car lengths to around 140k's.

i will stick the lancer on the dyno at crescent one day and see what sort of power it really makes just out of curiosity, i know they quote 89kw at the flywheel but i wouldnt be surprised if its a bit more then that.

i am trying to get the mrs to even race it at the drags just so she can see what the adrenaline rush is like even in a stocker, who knows she might even want to mod it, lol....

As stated the 2.4l is actually 115kw and considerably lighter than the porkey BA. I test drove a new one (same as being discussed here) 6 months ago and as yobbo said they're suprisingly quick and have quite a bit of torque. It got to 110km quite briskly before the salesman suggested I slow down. Given the auto ratios, I'd have thought he'd get you down low rather than up top.

I don't know how the VE commodore auto 6 compares to the BA but my old man was in the market for a new car last year and after driving commodores for the last 27 years said he expected more from the VE and ended up buying the lancer which he reckoned felt quicker.

I think a most cars would beat the standard VE commodore, those things are very slow, 0-100 in low to mid 9sec

4cyl are quicker thren people expect, but they run out of puff.
my focus zetec does 0-100 in 8-9 secs. but 0-80 in 6.5-7 secs. you can see how after 80 acceleration drops.
i reguarly drag 5l commodores and leave them for dead until 70km then i give them the brake light..
but in a quarter mile run its no comprasin really.
nothing beats crusing the freeway and just droping the accelerator to the floor with a auto i6 and feeling the thing drop into second gear while overtaking.
youve also got to consider the fact that most 4cyl and even v8's have way shorter gear ratios then ford i6's.

i think the stock manual lancer would beat a ba 0-100, but after that the ba should creep it back
