I havn't changed gears in an auto yet lol (getting my P's in 2 weeks).

So by flat you mean the accelerator at full throttle?

So this technique is better than driving from 3rd at start as mentioned earlier?

Also same thing for all the gears? 2 - 3 5300rpm too?

Is 4th necessary?

lol yes same shifts in each gear and if you get 2 4th your going to fast lol

If I had to put it into 4th would I just shift it into drive from 3rd?

Yes.... But really..... Its a VL

you could just put it in Power. Put it in D and just floor it. and you should cain it unless something is wrong with the ED.

remember his is a manual and mines an auto.

Ahhhh.. Well you will still end up overtaking him well before you go for 3rd gear anyway. VL's are slow pos, saying that its the best motor a holden has ever had lol Still is.

Dont race him off the line. If you had a manual you would rape it.
Saying that VY's are heavyish almost like a falcon so you would prob end up catching it over 100km/h and that shows who truely has the power.
V6's are s**t tell your mate :)

Race him From 100 and He will see your back end.

Commodores are far from powerful they just have a nice 1st gear ratio fords 4 speed has prob the worst ratio first gear ive heard of.

If you've got money buy some 4.11 Diff gears on ebay and have a diff shop fit them. Then race your mates. Dont tell them what you did.

The Ed will eat them for breakfast.

yeah 4.11 diff gears would be the cheapest way to hand out an a*** raping

non turbo vl's arent very fast at all....haha and the only reason its holdens best 6cylinder engine is cause its a nissan!

Exactly right!! i wouldnt expect holden to make a good engine. You would see every VL motor outlasting any of the 202 or buick peices of s**t.

Put it this way, my ef changes into 3rd at 140kmh, so i dont think you will quite be needing to put it into 4th any way!

the gearing on falcons is unbelievable!

speed in gears is about

1st : 87-88
2nd: about 140
3rd: dont know!!! and i dont think i ever will
