G'day
I just got my shiftkit installed the other week and its really nice, shifts quick and when you turn it just over half way it chirps into 2nd. I was just wondering if people have any before and after qaurter mile times with there shiftkits. Does it make much difference down the strip. When it changes out of first into 2nd the speedo flicks from 80k to 95k so id imagine it would be doing somthing.

It didnt help diddly squat with my 400m times.

All it did was eventually wear my autobox out so it ended up not kicking down gears properly. Was fine before i fitted it.

But im sure someone will say "thats s**t, shiftkits make your gearbox last longer... less wear blah blah"

I removed my shift kit.The gear on changing was not shifting quicker but holding longer and then a bang into next gear. This lag slowed my et's.

I've just put one in mine as well and thought because there is no lag between gears it would make for a quicker e.t
I'll just have to get up to WSID to find out myself :D

if u flatstick the car at 60-65 it wont down gear to first like it used to.

I firmly believe my shiftkit is about the only thing keeping my stock auto alive behind 270rwkw (although probably not for much longer I'd say if I keep hammering it down quarter mile runs LOL)

Sorry to go off topic, but yeah thats exactly what happened with mine. I would floor it @ 60km/h to beat a set of lights, and the damn car would only shift back to 2nd and look like a fukin slug !!!

Maybe you have the shift set to hard, the transmission dude that did mine said somthing about the line pressure in the box. Maybe its already at to high presure to kick back into 1st

yeah, but thats the lasting effect it had on my gearbox, when the shiftkit was turned off & eventually removed....

mmm, not sure he also said you should have the S5 AU Soliniod which makes the shift more crisp and makes the gearbox stronger

i also just noticed that it never gears down to 1st, it always goes 2nd for one second and then down gears to first.
shiftkits are good fun but i can definatly say that its turned my excelent condition btr to a very sluggish box since ive had it in. ive had it in for over a year now and i can garantie you that you get over it very quickly
