I have just bought an XR6 turbo and am wondering about the power. Tell me if I am mistaken but did the first of the turbos have more power and then they detuned em so they weren't more powerful than the 8s. Wot is involved in bringing it back up to its potential?

Any help would be great (especially since it is free! )

Nice purchase mate!

As for the power thing, all BA XR6T's have the same power. You might be thinking of the tune that Ford service allegedly performed on the XR6T's to prevent "overboosting" and causing some owners to notice a drop in power....

What model have you got mate? Manual or auto? Any pics?

Just a basic aftermarket tune using "Edit" or Capa Flash or even a piggyback like a unichip will free up quite a lot of power without doing anything else.
Of course its way more worth the money doing some other mods before you get it tuned.
Theres a few threads on what you can do in here, and also at www.fordxr6turbo.com

Some quick and easy mods
BF typhoon dual intake air box
K & N Filter
Remove rear muffler
Flash tune - Bout 900 allows you to change the tune to soem preloaded ones - or you can get a custome tune and then you can restore to factory tune if wanted also

Other upgardes
Intercooler upgrade
APS stage two - exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, unichip and boost controller - All just plugs in so no hacking looms!

I was going to take the badges off mine, but theres not any way to hide the intercooler hanging through the bar!
