Mock getting 540hp?!?!? That's amazing. 400+kw!!!!

425 kw at 14 PSI T66 turbo
he said at that power and boost it's to hard to drive on the street so he turns it down to 8 psi

it comes from the ability of the engine to use the air being suplied to it.

say the 250kw engine you mention can use say 5000cfm of air at 3000rpm

one that make more power from the same boost would use say 7000cfm at the same rpm.
the obove numbers are only to make a point and are fictional..

boosted engine work the same way as N/A engines. the more efficient you make it the more power you get

Remember boost presure is a restriction of flow..In this case...
Good heads and big turbo...

its the amount of air the turbo can blow into a motor that will give more power... you could have a little TD04 wound up to 25psi and still only make 150kw... its all about flow

Like what tickford6 said earlier. Say you have 2 engines side by side with the same turbo. One has some major NA mods along with the turbo and the other is stock. The NA one would make a heap more power at alot less boost because it can swallow alot more air than the stock turbo. that's why you see well thought out engines that have 500+ hp and their turbo's are supplying under 15psi boost.. The days of just bolting on a massive turbo running 20+psi on an unported head and stock cammed engine (and only having 280hp @wheels) are well and truly over.

The 540hp run was done on 18psi. Would be interesting to see how long a 540hp 6 cylinder lasts.

it should last a few years provided it has the right bottom end.

they are not making 540hp every time its reved, less throttle open less power less stress

they're not even running that power power all the time.
a car that doesn't run too nice at 15psi has a major cam in it
