I don't think you will piss Pete off, I used to stir him up on FF.com and he still played the game.

Anyway, Pete knows about more different brands of ECU than most in this forum with how they work and how to tune them, probably why he doesn't care about what EMS etc have to offer at this time.

SVO XR6, what is the top RWKW you have so far? You are still NA not forced yet?

yeah, i see him everynow and then, he knows his s**t 8-)

atm, running about 235rwhp but a new twin TB mani goes on next thurs. Should be interesting, and all set up for a non intercooled 9psi turbo jobbie, apart from the compression. (and fuel system)
aiming for 470rwhp

175RWKW is bloody good, that is about Waggin's RWKW when he first got it back from JMM, mind you Brad could have got the smooth idle 170RWKW Dev5 with stock ECU, Instead he got the rougher idle and unichip.

So you are going to turbo without a intercooler? Or was the the previous owner of the intake?
350RWKW will be awesome if you get it, definitely take lots of pictures along the way and don't forget to write down what you have done, so you don't forget when you post about it.

lol, yeah

but i can sit in 5th doing 30kmhr if i like :D
and the idle is phat :D

yeah, non intercooled, low boost, very drivable...
thinking of a T61 or a T04B
External W/G (35mm?)
injectors/reg and pump
very short plumbing, coz ther is no I/C

and no quite enough power to break boxes and diffs in a daily driver...easily

most of its done, like:

igntion

head work(decom plate comming tho)

cam (lumpy, but it will work)

exhaust(2.5 inch, but pretty much no restriction with a H/F cat and a strait muffler, and dumps B4 the diff :D)

intake mani (twins :D)

and a nice 5 speed and 3.45's up the back

*fingers crossed

um, also it is goin to be a bit different to the normal turbo set up's youve seen 8-)

very low mounted turbo, for heat and cop reasons

ive seen the underside of a bonnet melted coz of heat :?

Why not fit a water to air intercooler, short intake track, can be hidden and reduce the chance of detonation because of 70c+ air temps.

That is a long running debate, if they were so bad why would some manufacturers and race teams use them, plus they are much better for dyno and drag racing compared to air to air intercoolers.

The only time I can see a water to air being not as good as a air to air, would be on a track and insufficient heat transfer from water to air front radiator. (You wouldn't be stupid enough to find out on the street.)

Get in contact with 6BOOST from Performance Forums.

He has played a lot with both water and air intercoolers on his turbo Falcon, 530kw isn't something to sneeze at. He will probably take a while to stop laughing about not using a intercooler, then he might be able to reply

I would be willing to bet 470RWHP would be impossible without any type of intercooler unless you are using alcohol instead of petrol, that is around 600hp at the flywheel.

Dont go non intercooler... they stopped doing that in the late 80s

The cooler pipe length is fine with a decent cored front mount, and they are cheap as these days... my intake temps are sitting around 26 deg all this week, 75 is detonation city.
Dont worry about the comp ratio, xr6 isnt too high and can cope with 1 bar all day if you get the timing and fuel maps well sorted ( sounds like you will be cool with the maps).
Turbo choice is what you should be putting at the top of your list, forget everything and figure out your needs first... whats your max rpm and boost, and your expected max power (300kw@w is a good ball park figure, you wont get much higher on a stocker)
Do as much research into turbos as you can, talk to turbo shops and the guys on this forum that have turboed there cars... You'll find we all have similar set ups once you have done your homework.
Wastegate wise you wont want anything internal for this kind of power, and noting under 38mm... and dont get one of those tial/hks ripp offs, get the real thing, the crap ones jam shut and the turbo boosts to its max...
Get a big flow pump and injectors and your pretty much there...

ive been looking into this for over a year :/

ive been talking alot to turbotarana.

480rwhp, non intercooled, half tuned, 300,000k's box/motor and diff. all unopened. T-61

and driven everyday with no problems

im goin for a external W/G (45 mm i think)

how is the costing of the water/air cooling?

Yeah seen his set up... all good there :)

You can buy air/water kits, PWR sell a few, but some say they dont flow as well as a trusty large cored front mount. Not sure of cost but you need to buy a tank, motor lines ect... then constantly fill it up, Ive used them befor, fiddled around with it for ages as i thought long pipes would cause lag... in the end it was a waste of time for me, but have a go anyway, Id like to see an effient high output water to air set up.
I'm not 100% but t6s and up may not fit down low... but its a good idea, make a heat sheild and hide it... my plan was for a hidden turbo too but you really cant hide the fact you have a turbo... the noise is a big give away
I had some local kids call out to me as they spotted my (what I thought was hidden) intercooler... Aw turbo maite... booost it bro!
