Hi,

I have XR6 Turbo..

3 inch stainless system from the turbo back, bigger cat converter, typhoon second intake snorkel, new valve springs, bigger injectors, custom tune 14psi, 280rwkw. (auto)

What can I do to give it a little more shove?

At the moment, the car takes off ok from the line but when boost comes on about 3000rpm, the car just goes sideways, keep the foot in and you have a big power slide on your hands. But I need more...

What is the next step? Any little fiddly bits which may make a difference?

yep, thats what i would def do!

process west stage 1 coolers are the go, for around $870 and remove the under battery pipe that's restrictive and buy a process west one for around the $125 mark i think!
think that's spose to deliver another 25-35kws!

u should upgrade ur actuator to a 12psi one, dont know how much that will cost??? anyone?

bigger dump pipe - Xforce 4'' or SMB.....

and maybe a bigger fuel pump - walbro/bosch...

any problems with ur auto yet??

there are endless things u can do to these!

wish i had some spare cash to spend on mine!! haha

those process west coolers are very nice :) and i am about to put the UBP in my ute to, they are also a nice bit of kit.
actuators are around the $160 dollar mark
walbro GSS-341, bolt in replacement for factory pump.
i would look at gettin the auto strengthened before it dies to 8-)

Get an intercooler on it asap, it summer now and inlet temps are going to be huge from the tiny stock intercooler. That means there's a huge chance of detonation.

Intercooler to be safe, sqeeze a few more kws out of it and save a few grand for a well built auto... the stock 4sp will start slip at high 200wkws.

Your on the right path though, and nice car too dude.

Its a full on rebuild, stong bands, valves ect... but if he's a good mechanic, find out the parts and go for it... then there's the tuning side to firm up changes ect

hmm that power seams a little low for the mods you have? i only have cooler and piping, intake and injectors and im running 285rwkw, and thats being seriousl;y restricted by the cat. With the mods you have it should be into the 300s, id say grab a cooler and get chef to do you some of his awesome piping.

The weakest part in teh auto is the a***, mines been fitted with au v8 a***, stronger bands, clutches, etc etc and it made a hell of a difference.

The tuner said my 20 inch wheels cost me power on the dyno? He said he has seen it many times before, big wheels cost you power on the dyno???

He said the size combines with the weight? Is this guy pulling my leg?

Once you go over a 17" rim the factory steelies actually are lighter (when both are fitted with tires). The difference in inertia is enough to rob you a fair ammount of power. If you don't know what inetria I suggest you grab yourself a copy of "Physics for engineers" by Paul A Tippler, or any engineering text book written by Norton, Shigley, Gere, Hibbler and Mabie and Reinholtz. Its a basic concept but its a b**ch of a thing to explain to someone with a limited mechanical aptitude.

And depending on the overall tire height you get more leverage by using smaller rims. Again, any physics text book will do if you want more information on leverage.

mate......get a decent cooler (do some reaserch)...and whack on a nizpro / plazmaman/ process west plenumn and you will be way over 300rwkw.

and get a fuel pump pronto... process west have a real cracker of a pump and swirlpot basiclt bolt on.around 600 bucks........

you can also remove the underbattery pipe from the cooler to the throttle body and replace it with a pwr/plaz/pw/ unit.

then theres the factory xover pipe.

airfilter off the turbo with battery relocation.

the list is endless.

"It can be purchased with or without the Bosch Motorsport 044 pump.

Cost on the complete unit is $865 or $615 without the pump."

thats the real price of the surge tank setup
