definatly dont write off the supercharged v6's guys. they are weapons when tweaked right.

fastest one atm over east just run 12.06 or something. and that will cost you under 10k extra to get.

in factory form, not that great, will pull a mid 15. (6psi factory IIRC) however, get extractors, exhaust, rockers and 10psi probably cost you about 2k, or just over and you should be running 14.5's

fuel economy wise.. pretty good. mates cv6 monaro puts out 240rwhp with exhaust, 10psi and rockers and can still get 500km out of a tank not babying it.

if you dont mind driving a holden they can be a pretty good choice, the engines are pretty strong.

hey guys,

that 12.06 was on the standard stall, diff gears, diff (s/s) and gearboz too!!

check out www.v6supercharged.com.au (I think it is)... like the xr6 turbo, there is lots of cheap/small things you can do to get the supercharged commodores to get up and boogie. I went down the drags a few weeks back and there was one running 12's - from memory he had spent less than 10k on it too.

if tahts a a blue one...posiibly over grey, its had 20,000 spent on it, the current owner bought it for what you said though...or there abouts

Im pretty sure it was white. Not 100% sure though. He was there with a mate who had a VT SS that was running 12's too with not much work done to it.

Lets move this to the top. interesting read.
Wow. So many people are bagging these things.
14.4 from a stock VT Calais with 3" exhaust and 10 psi pulley with a s/s 3.08 is good if you ask me.

And there's at least one manual s/c i know of, a VU S pack.

Yeah the S/C was auto only.

Do you know the reason why there wasn't a manual??? Because there were a few manual test vehicles... that blew away the genIII 220kws. The manuals had perfect gearing for superchargers.... and why would you buy the 8 for more cash when the s6 was faster, cheaper to run, cheaper to insure and cheaper to buy????

Hence why it never existed!

same reason holden/hsv never put the ZF box behind the SV5000. it was lineball with the group a which at the time was a massive increase in price so they stuck with the turbo 700.

I would say the s/c V6 would kill the VTSS1, those SS's are so slow iv killed everyone iv come up against

s**t....back up the claim with an actual reference

how does a 170kw car "blow away" 220kw car?

one of my mates had a vt s supercharged and his mate had a berlina but they were exactly the same performance wise. But now both of them have been written off, so the world is now a better place

go the V8

actual figures for v6S and 5.7

VT S 1611kg 1/4 = 15.36
statesman V8 1735kg 1/4 = 14.83

thats not even a fair comparison as the statesman is 124kg heavier but proves that the V8 is much faster

quote from autospeed :

"So power is the critical determining factor for maximum acceleration, and torque is necessary for driveability. This can quite clearly be seen in looking at the types of engines used for certain applications. Trucks and industrial vehicles use engines with large amounts of torque with a fairly flat torque curve, but relatively little power. Racing and sporting vehicles use high revving engines, with high power and relatively little torque in comparison to their power outputs. That is why you have F1 having engines revving to over 18000 rpm. And there's no use doing that if to maximise acceleration all you needed to do was maximise the amount of torque you had!"

Remember that the super V6 came out while the 5.0 was being used. And it's torque that equates to acceleration, you just want the torque to be made at as higher RPM as you can :)

How do you all recon they'd go head to head(stock vs stock XR without s/charge) and around the track? cheers all

also q/mile times would be great or 0-100
