I've bought an ED gli classic to transplant all the good stuff into now. The old EAs motor is about stuffed now and has massive blow by, so rather than put a new motor in the crusty old EA I decided to get a much cleaner ED... dead stock and Harry Highpants at the back :)

Haha, harry highpants indeed!

Good stuff chef.... so the EA engine copped a bit of a hammering in the beta turbo setup? lol

Very cool. Bet you're looking forward to rewiring that wolf!

Yeah I can honestly say I flogged it hard! But you cant just let those pesky SS utes think they can go round wooping fords all day... :D

Wolf will be easy to wire up as Ive done all the hard work, just plun n play days ahead now.

I gotta swap the suspension over so my gf cant call it Harry anymore... and it rides like a boat.

I'll be getting a new exhaust manifold made up and modding the cooler pipe/dump pipe to suit, hopefully the turbo will sit in a similar possy

Dan, Im just copying you dude :P , I looked at plenty of EB/ EDs and this was the best I found... I really wanted a heavy weight ghia but a decent one was twice the price

What is it with the ED GLI classics being so high at the back? I have the EXACT same car, (colour as well), and the height at the back is rediculous! Will have to look into lowering soon!

Well him and his sister's bf or whatever decided to have a go at bolting a turbo on the side of the 4l and they end up with 150rwkw...

They custom made their own exhaust manifold etc and intercooler piping and are running a t3. they have standard computer and 5psi. they are running some sort of fuel thingo which when under boost it makes a injector work which is in the intercooler piping after the intercooler.

now this set up proves that on 5psi they can run standard computer and a bit more fuel and get a nice increase in power. he has been drivng it for over a year now and has done over 20,000k's. He has run it on 9psi but that is the limit of those computers he reckons.

peace

just a note on the above: 150rwkw out of a 4lt isnt that hard naturally aspirated...no need for turbo's to get it to 150.

Anyway, Hows the ed going? still going strong? any new updates on anything thats needed to be replaced etc? I am starting my research and just read this thread, good stuff CHEF, legend...

and wat has the cost been to do this progect? cheers mate,

Rayos

At the moment Im just tiding things up for an engineers report to be done in 3 weeks. Pulled 204wkws at last weeks FM dyno day which was its first dyno run and was operating off my road tune. After a good tune I'm hoping for maybe 230 or so, but Im not chasing power until its regoed and engineered as a turbo car. Once thats done and I can drive it around confident of not getting a defect I will start doing as many power mods as I can. I plan to keep the standard motor in it for awhile and see what I can get from it.
Plans are to make an effective cold air box, bigger plenum on a EF manifold, better flowing stainless exhaust manifold and a bigger comp wheel and housing on the turbo. Plus a decent sized oil air separator.
Ooh and some grippy tyres and LSD... and Im sure I'll think of a tonne of other things I can mod to sqeeze more kws out of it without resorting to over 12psi.
Now that the basics are sorted and its getting ok power, I can start to get serious

that sounds alrite ay.

you didnt mention costs, but if you're not up for that its up to you.

its good to see that you've put alot of effort into YOUR own project. not alot of poeple out there to go about something like that, including me :P

cheers mate, goodluck with the engineers nod.
