hey guys , im just researching to get an idea of what has to be done to the 4.0L motor so it would be able to handle a turbo ? I've heard guys changing pistons, cam shafts, ecu etc . sounds like major work and what kind of turbo i should use.

Do a search "turbo" or "turbo kit" or somthing like that, there is plenty of information on this site about what your after. Also have a look at www.snortperformance.com they have decent kits for the money you pay

its not hard... i did mine in around 10days. and that was with heaps of issues (warped manifold, manifold fouling on water line, fabricating exhaust and piping)

so if you it all yourself, then yes .. basic turbo setup good for 200rwkw
snort stage 2 kit - $2500 on ebay
extra piping - $300
fuel pump and injectors - $700 (i think it would be less)
EMS 4424 or 8860 - around $2000 fitted and installed and tuned i believe

so thats about $5500 ... those are rough estimates... and thats if you keep the stock exhaust and such

The engine in good nick will take 12Lb boost all day...With good tune...That includes...
Atleast a walbro in tank 255 pump..
Atleast 36 Lb injectors, 42's are about the same price now...
ECU that reads boost and atleast 2 bar..[Thats 15 Lb]
Keep rpm under control and it'll last just as long as n/a engine... Drive it stuppid like any engine.. It will have issues..

it will be mostly sensible driving with the occasional boost and maybe some trips down the drag strip. im going to contact malwoodauto this week to get a stronger box and also ringing snort to get a stage 2 kit. i rang kpm performance in adelaide and they said they would use a eliminator switch chip from capa from capa with a custom tune. is this good enough. i have about a spare 3 grand on tuning i like the wolf 3d what do youz think

Im running the switch chip eliminator, runs perfectly in mine..... I kno this isnt a popular choice though, lotsa guys over here with turbo eseries are using the ems8860...... That seems to be the more popular ecu.....
