As I have stated in another thread, I am thinking of building a motor based on the 302W block that will eat VE V8s.
Given that 300kW is the aim, what is the ideal :
-stroker ( 6 litre-ish sounds good and up to the task, but if there is a smaller one thats more driveable, I'm all ears. I assume a 370~ could accomodate a lumpier cam due to its inherent torque characterisitcs down low...)
- intake manifold
- heads ( can the standard heads be ported/polished et al to 300kW
- Aftermarket computer (and is one necessary?)
- Exhaust ( 3.0" + would be ideal for this output, no?)
- cam
Thanks I look forward to replies.

A 331 or 347 if built well should kill just about any VE that you would want.
Also, is the goal 300kw at the wheels or flywheel the aim?
I would imagine the stock heads, even if ported and machined wouldn't really be enough for 300rwkw?
I think i'll leave the rest of the answers to guys that have had more experience in N/A setups.

No worries mate.
300kw at the Flywheel might well be within in the range of the standard heads, but i imagine a fair bit of work would need to be done, as well as a manifold. The 300fwkw mark should be achievable with just the 302 setup, rather than going with a stroker.

Exactly, done it in the past, very easy. Standard bottom end, Y303 ported heads, Motorsport cam, Explorer, 65/70 inlet and 24lb inj.
A set of paceys and all done, commodore killer. Above combo will make a factory VZ clubby look average.

Won't need to stroke it.. 5.0L stock bottom end will do fine, as long as you match the parts properly. Your car is lighter. Make sure you have plenty of low down torque and the correct gears. I.e. 4.11:1, T5. By the time they get up to speed, you're gone.

300fwkw, How much kw at the wheels would you be looking at through a T5 manual?

I cannot go past the potential drive characteristics and bragging rights of a 6.0 L plus Ford V8; and a stroker kit seems to be a cheap option. What is the maximum capacity that a Small block 302 Windsor can be bored/stroked to?

Also, what are Y303 heads? and 65/70 inlet?
Thanks

Also, how hard would it be to adapt a second hand Commodore T56 ( with the moonshot 6th gear for good economy, and facility to accomodate a 4.11 diff and remain drive-able), or would it be worth doing this? Thanks.

Y303 are aluminium heads made by Ford Motorsport in the u.s. Have a look at their website.
65/70 inlet would be in regard to t/b size, and may also be reffering to MAF housing.

Could a 347 Stroker be used in conjunction with maxxed out ( flow wise) stock heads?
Sorry for the flying questions, I have more or less decided to take the V8 route today and have many questions...

Yes, but they'd still be a limiting factor IMO, and for the cost of porting the E7TEs to that extent, you could put it towards a pair of alloys that are going to outperform them everywhere.
Unless you are porting them yourself, they are not really worth it.

Check out this thread (XH4LWEPN) & this thread (-clampy-). Both have done very similar things, and both will be pushing the 300fwkw (~300rwhp) boundary by the time they are done.

I (meaning the guy before me) took the forced induction route. My car is stock except for extractors, exhaust & the charger, and I have 297rwhp (~299fwkw). I have proven it will beat a stock VY GTS, but haven't had the chance to line up a VE yet. That, and most of the ones you see around, if the people can afford a VE V8, generally they can afford a few mods as well, and it isn't hard to push them up around the 400+rwhp mark.

KW @ fly is approximate hp @ wheels. For example, in this instance, Falcon IV is hoping for 300fwkw, so that would be about 300rwhp. This equates to approx 221rwkw.
