Hi All,

My LTD (1993 302) is drowning itself, its running rich, performance is shocking and I'm only getting 300k's to a tank of gas. I have replaced the leads, the plugs, the thermostat the O2 sensor, full flush of oil and coolent brand new K&N panel filter. But its still running like a***. the temp gauge always reads just above C but never in the outlined "normal" bracket, it will read below C when cold and even when i have been driving for at least 2 hours it will still barely even touch the normal line let alone sit in the middle. What is going on here???

Sounds like your thermostat is either stuck open or has been removed as well, if your temp isn't going up much.

Hmm, shouldn't be, its brand new, just put in 2 weeks ago. The new 02 sensor improved the idle a little but a sfor performance and fuel mileage, it hasnt done a thing. Nice fairlane btw, Got all your LTD bits yet? Its bloody hard finding parts for these over here, i think i have found ONE wreck in the last year and a half. and they had no idea what it was worth, sold me the grille and all the wood grain for $150. You can never have too much wood grain hey! poor thing ended up in the crusher i think

I would definately have a look at that thermostat even if it is new they can be faulty, i had an ea with a 5spd and used to get about 500ks per tank, replaced the thermostat and bang 650ks per tank (both highway) a car that runs to cold will run the choke constantly and produce rich results in fuel
