Hey guys im planning a 347 build using flat top pistons with valve reliefs, tfs 185 heads 64cc chamber, 1.6rr's, manual box. I'm trying to decide on what cam to use anybody got any suggestions?

If you want something out of the FordMotorSport catalogue, a Z303 would be a nice fit.

Yeah I was looking at possibly the Z303 or TFS Stage 2. More or less trying to work out how big i can go before pistons start hitting valves aswell

What intake? Auto or manual? I'd look at something in the 220-230* range @0.050", like a Comp XE274 or Crane HR228.

Ported and polished explorer manifold until I can afford something better in the next couple of months

How much power are you chasing & what intake are you planning on should you change it? If you use a short runner intake then the XFI236 from Comp will go 400+rwhp.

When I built my 347 with TFS heads and intake they had specific TFS cams. I fitted the middle range one and end result was a 230rwkW engine unstressed. Sounded very nice too. My memory is bad on these but if I remember the cam spec int vs exh is different for the TFS heads.

If you're looking to spend in the vicinity of $400 on a cam, I'd recommend getting in contact with Ed Curtis at FTI. Check out flowtechinduction.com.

I've heard of many, many great results in the Mustangs in the US. I've got one in my 347 that is still to be complete. I'm really looking forward to seeing how well it performs. Also, Ed is great to deal with and he will answer any and all questions promptly. I bought my cam last May and am still chatting to him about getting the most out of my combo.
