Ive searched dozens of different terms but no success in what I am trying to find out. If anyone has any info that may help me or links, that would be great.

I am about to put a 5.0l and 5speed box out of an EF XR8 into my car, an EF 4.0l. I Have got the motor itself, all the bolt ons, looms etc. an the box, clutch housing etc.
Basically the donor car is now getting a 2J in it so i have everything not needed.

What I need to know is what else do I need for the conversion?
Will anything such as the k-frame need to be swapped out?
Do I need the XR8 tail shaft?
Will the xr8 exhaust system bolt up with no clearance issues?
Seeing as it will be running the STD XR8 ecu, and i have a NON optioned GLi, will the ecu run fine?

I'll add too the thread with all my troubles, findings as I go.
Thank you in advance to all help given.

don't need the k frame
tail shaft you may as well grab if you can, try and soce the diff too.
zort will bolt up no probs.
ECU should be fine.

Yopu might want the pedal box of try malwood i think they can supply you with something to convert yours to manual.

only other thing i can recall is the bottom rad hose is in 2 parts with a metal joint in the centre atached to the k frame you'll want that.

Other people might be able to point out other things.

Thanks, keep the info coming.

All the stuff to convert to manual is there, which is going in. I all ready have a 3.45:1 diff. from an xr8 so i'm good in that department.

Will i need The radiator itself? or are the I6 rads the same?

As far as I know they are the same. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

rads are same, might like to put an aftermarket 3 core one in while you're at it though... ?

Different part number from ford as they are slightly different but I can't remember what it was. It was something so small, I6 or V8 rad it won't matter.

Exhaust should be no problem. Have you got the Xr8 steering as well? They are slightly different. The intermediate shaft is a different length and has fewer splines. So the extractors may foul on them.

I was told from a reliable source, that the 5.0 and 4.0 rads are interchangable, but the 5.0 has greater cooling capacity (in fact It was suggested, that I swap my standard one for a 5.0 one when the time comes to replace it.)

i6 and 5ltr radiators are the same and it doesnt matter if its auto or manual, if manual you just dont bother with the trans lines oh and if you gona replace the radiator stay away from ford, their radiators are crap.

Oh the other thing, your six the fuel line end/go to the motor at the back or near the fire wall where the V8's come to the front so you'll need to extend them.
the rad are the same,
We didn't change the steering when i did mine, so i'm not sure about that one but mines a el with a ef motor.

are these parts the same in both models?
-Washer bottle
-Radiator overflow bottle
-Battery
-Brake booster/master cylinder
-Aircon compressor (brackets are the different ones right?)
-Power steering pump
-Tailshaft, Manual to auto
- Fuel pump

Can i use my old 4.0l Fuel line and filter upto the engine bay?

Will i have to use the New ignition barrel? or can i rewire my old one up as i dont want 2 seperate keys for the boot/ignition.

Power steering lines & engine mounts will also need to be changed over.
