Well rev heads,

It seems we need a new ute for work.
As you know I attempted to buy a new manual 3V 5.4 ute but they have discontinued the manual and won't allow the T56 to be optioned either and I don't want an XR8.
So I'm on the look out for a 1 tonne tray back BA preferably a 3V.
Ive done some research and it seems I can fit the 3V V10 from the U.S. F-series. It's also available in the E-series vans which Ive been informed has a front sump design that will suit our Falcon. The engine is 100mm longer than the 5.4 so no problems with length. Width of course is the same as the 5.4 because it is just the 5.4 with two more cyls. I'm led to believe the engine mount pads on the block are the same distance from the bellhousing face too. The intake is a little higher mainly due to the forward facing T-body. If not modifyable for lower height an XR8 bonnet may need to be used. Aftermarket headers could be modified with an extra pipe. The BA code shows the ability for 10cyls and VCT would be turned off(the V10 doesn't have it). Or it may be possible to use the F/E-series pcm which is already calibrated and Mass Air equipped.
These engines are rated at 355hp@4750 and 457lb/ft@ 3250.
I have a contact in the U.S. who can supply a brand new crate engine for $5500 U.S.

Pete.

I bookmarked this for the propane part of the write up, but it seems relevant to this thread.
