Hi Peps...

I am currently looking at a unregoed 1993 XR8 (V8 Duh :P) Manual...
has some small damage to the passenger side door, has a mild bodykit
(front bar, wing, sideskirts and rear bar) also it has them phase 4 looking
bonnet vents.... they are asking 4,500 ONO... it is located in Cowra it is on carsales.com

>>Private Sale
>>Under 5,000
>>Keyword:XR8
>>NSW

Has around 260k kms

Is there anything to look out for, are the 5L prown to oil leaks (like the I6 near timing cover etc etc) just any info from EB/ED V8 Owners or previous xr8 car owners want some info and general info about these cars

this thing is eating away at me

Sump and rear mains leaks are probably the biggest ones to look out for.
Water leaks are more common, around thermostat housing, hoses for EGR etc.
Timing cover can corrode through, mixing oil and water.
MAFs can get dirty, mostly from oiled filters.

Thats about it for major problems.
5Ls are pretty bulletproof.

That thing looks like a fair s**t lol, I'd be more worried about the condition of the body then the driveline.
Driveline bits will get cheaper and cheaper as the car gets older (to a point!) but panel and paint work is always expensive!!!!

Probably a bit much for such k's. Its a Manual, so check the pedal box(old welds etc), firewall for cracks and repairs/ flex.
Make sure shes not too tappy on startup and if it is check that it stops shortly there after.Check around water pump for leaks .Check back tyres, they are selling unreg- so theres are fair chance if its caned, the tyres will show.
check all vital fluids for abuse coloration/lack of change
*Crank oil
*Power Steering
*Brake Fluid
*Manual Box fluid
*Diff oil
*coolant colour (Corrosion orange/brown no good) iron e7's Prob be little rusted but hopefully not too much.

If alls good after a mechanical check (Not from RACV!!)
Start at 3,000- go to 3,500- my opinion

coz after you reg, new tyres, roady a and no doubt exhaust, headers and the like u will be lookin close to $6,000 conservatively....so think about that.
cheers

What do you mean i assume that the RWC is a blueslip not a pinkslip (as no plates in photos i have seen thus far)

waiting for a email to comfirm this....

Another Thing what does an Explorer manifold look like? And what does it do / improve (to broaden my ford knowleadge)

Waiting on confirmation sent emails and so fourth but asking that same thing?

This may sound retard but in my thinking if it was / is a blue slip and i let it go out of the 41ish days of the current blueslip i doubt it will have any dramas getting another.
