I doubt Ford would have made a mistake with the engine numbering. VicRoads have no record of the number according to their website. Did you get the engine from a wrecking yard or private sale? I'm thinking someone renumbered the engine and scrapped the the 4.0L block.

A guy at work bought some metal stamps to renumber his crate engine instead of having to go to VicRoads. His old block will have the numbers ground off and sent off for scrap metal.

hi there i bought the car as a write off it was painted in silhouette black as per the tag but under the bonnet but close inspection and from what the owner told me it s an ex d**k johnson car as under the black paint were d**k johnson racing colours and even the ecu has been re calabrated by andrew hall as per d**k v8 challange back in 2000 it looks as though the top half of the engine as in heads and manifolds have been powder coated black even the gt 40p initials on both heads have been painted or powder coated red the car was just still driveable when i got it and it lit the rear tyres up with no effort all i want to do is get some info on maybe whats been done to the engine as i want to put it in my ltd thanks dave

im guessing that number is from the vin/ compliance plate?
if that's the number on the block then its suss.. engine has been re stamped..
the engine numbers don't have the 6fpaaa prefix, it should start with jgsw.

even if that is the vin, seeing as tho fords are matching numbers, the fact etis came up with a 6 cylinder is sus enough. unless etis is wrong

Sounds like a base model 6 that has had a 5.0 conversion done.
If it is an ex promo car it could very well be the case.

The Engine number itself is on the block, above the starter motor. See if you find something there?

I often mark it with Chalk to assist with reading, and then take a photo
