Ride: AU I XR8 Tickford Enhanced

Location: Adelaide
SA, Australia

Hi all,

I've just bought my brother in laws 1999 au I Tickford enhanced XR8 and as far as I kno these came out of the factory with 180kW?

What I want to know is what mods should I look at to bring up that power to match the series III XR8's which had 220kW?

Cheers

simple bolt ons i'd suggest 1.7 roller rockers and a decent exhaust.
but if you want a good kick change the cam.

As John said above, change the cam and get a tune. You should get a pleasant increase in power.

tickford didnt touch the insides of the motor except for a pair of 4into1 style headers with better flowing cats.

A uper to lower intake manifold spacer is also a good preformance mod on these, tops heat soak in the upper manifold

Back when my Auii XR8 ute was still factory standard (185kw version) the best power for doller mod i did was fit the 1.72:1 street terra roller rockers. picked up 20rwhp (around 220>240 from memory)
changing from 3.08:1 or 3.23:1 up to the 3.45:1 or 3.73:1 will give it a better kick off the line too.

I would suggest 3.91 with tighter packed shims in the limited slip centre, 1.7 rr are a cheap upgrade and adding a phenolic spacer couldn't hurt...

is it a manual or auto? My manual S1 XR8 went 14.7 @ 95mph with a 3 inch cat back, and combined with a mechanical locking centre (4wd systems Lokka) went 14.3@96.7mph. A decent exhaust and tune should see your XR8 a fair bit quicker, possibly a 13s car with a good launch.
