Hi Guys,

I am in the process of rebuilding an AU V8 for my EF Fairmont(V8 also). I am using the gt40p heads with sprint headers. Also using explorer intake and planning on using E series distributor.

I was told I need the E series harmonic balancer?

Is the Timing cover/water pump different as well? Or can I use the AU one?

Is there anything else I need to change?

Also found out that ford head and intake bolts are crap!!!

Thanks in advance
Fitter

If you are using the EF accessories, use the EF balancer.

Water pump is the same but the AU pulley is slightly smaller from memory. Not enough to make a difference, EF belt still tensions.

The EF accessories all bolt up to the block.

I'd use the EF sensors and loom, dizzy, as you already plan to.
