Just wondering if anyone has done a conversion from i6 to v8?

Im looking at doing a conversion on my ute, and just wondering besides all running gear what else is needed?

I have a xr8 donor car, do I need to change the dash wiring to suit the v8? or is the i6 loom in the dash the same?

Any help would be great

Thanks

Loom from the ECU to the Engine bay has to be changed.
The rest of it is the same dash wise.

More people paid for a ride in a VT commodore then an AU Falcon so the VT is superior.
Based on that fact my Mum is the best around!

I figured I will post this here instead of starting a new thread as its on the same topic, I have just bought an au Fairmont and want to chuck my 347 stroker in, the block was originally out of my old ed falcon and I built the stroker because it was going to go into an xf for a skid car, turns out it was way to rusty for me so pm me if u want it for free. so now to my questions.
are the sumps the same as the ed?
what engine accessories are the same between the au 6 ed v8 and au v8?
are the ed engine mounts the same?
the intake will be after market and am tossing up between edelbrock or tf track heat and want to know if the can be reversed?
I have a btr out of an el will this work or will I need to change the ext. housing and are the mounts the same as the eb v8 box? will I need a different tail shaft?
do I need to get a tcm or does the au ecu control the gearbox as I know the earlier v8s have a separate tcm?
do I need to change the dash cluster?
will I need to change th e p/s, fuel, auto trans and a/c lines/pipes?

are the sumps the same as the ed? Yes.

what engine accessories are the same between the au 6 ed v8 and au v8? None.

are the ed engine mounts the same? No.

the intake will be after market and am tossing up between edelbrock or tf track heat and want to know if the can be reversed? Yes.

I have a btr out of an el will this work or will I need to change the ext. housing and are the mounts the same as the eb v8 box? Yes

will I need a different tail shaft? Probably

do I need to get a tcm or does the au ecu control the gearbox as I know the earlier v8s have a separate tcm? The AU 5.0 EECV will run both the engine and trans.

do I need to change the dash cluster? Not if you run the AU 5.0 EECV

will I need to change th e p/s, fuel, auto trans and a/c lines/pipes?[/quote] Yes.

I got the car for free and already have the motor so it will be cheaper for me to use mine as all I need is the engine accessories and the eecv mounts and harness if I get a v8 one I will chuck mine in with aftermarket manifold anyway so I will save money by not having to buy a complete car
