Hey guys, first time posting here :)

Just wanted to ask if there is much of a difference between a BA XR8 and the V8s in the Ghia.

Is the upgrades over time going to differ much and are the parts for an XR8 going to fit onto my engine fine?

Novice getting into some modding with this car.

Thanks in advanced.

2 different engines. The XR8 has big 4 valve heads and makes 260 kw. The Ghia is a 3 valve head that makes 220 kw. Exhaust and air box are pretty much 6 cylinder items on the Ghia ie small. XR8 has different airbox and upgraded exhaust.

Not many things interchange between the 2. Extractors, intakes etc are different setups.

If it's a 220 you are upgrading then do an airbox, extractor, exhaust and tune upgrade.

I got the BA Ghia, I didn't want an XR8 as I like the gadgets in the Fairmonts. I find the engine really nice, very torquy.

I replaced the intake with a special box surrounding a pod filter and different tubing, chucked on an exhaust, sounds really good. I want to get some better headers and high flow cats eventually.

One issue is most performance places around here wont work on them, as in chucking in cams or a tune, so that can be annoying.

I've been finding it's hard to find parts for this car to mod over time ( maybe looking in all the wrong places )
Thinking of selling mine as it's very tidy and runs smooth and just picking up a BF XR6T, parts for days for the six's.

Still mulling over it but if a good trade comes alone I probs would t say no.

I picked all mine up second hand but you need to know what you are looking for. Most performance places a lazy and want to just do the easy stuff. Blue power is good for a tune and my mail order is pretty good!

I have an 04 mont too. I made a custom intake and put a Manta quad cat back on it. Sounds heap better. On the dyno I got 180rwkw and the best 1/4 mile run I did was 14.9sec. If your looking for parts look at American sites, look at the 2004 F150, they had the same block, parts are alot cheaper over there. Id put up the link but I've lost it.
