Find a 290,302,315 engine and do all the bolt ons then you'll get there. A 260 doesn't have the compression to get there easily unfortunately.

$$$$$$ mate i did a conversion for my mate. He had a ba xr8 boss 260 4spd auto. I put in a gt-p boss 290 and six speed for him with cold air, full zorst, pacie extractors, herrod throttle spacer and full custom tune on the gt-p ecu installed into his ute. The most we could get was 355rwhp. That was tuned by simon at xtreme ford tuning. 400rwhp is hard to get and simon will tell you to supercharge it. Oh and by the way that all set him back close to 7.5k and i didnt charge him a cent to do all the work. 8-) have a looksie.

Yep, high performance costs lotsa money as tyler06 has shown. Going into your 260 will cost you more than just buying a 290-up engine to start with. A blower is a good way to go but it isn't cheap either(unless you get cheap s**t but that's false economy....you'll pay for your cheapness in the end).
My 290 auto Pursuit is in the 380hp range with 1 3/4" diffilippo 4 into 1 headers, X-force 2 1/2" twin and cats, underdrive pulleys, cold air and tune. It's got over 150k's on the clock and it's still going strong but I now have an S-trim vortech and intercooler to go on which should get me about 50% more.
If the money concerns you too much just get the bolt-ons for your 260 and also stick some 3.7 gears in the a***. Then if it ain't enough stick a blower on it.

XR9UTE is right. to get 400hp from a 260, you'll need boost, or a full high comp rebuilt.

You can get 400hp (298kw) from a 290 (I'm almost there), it's hard/expensive. the 302 and 315 can do it easier (higher comp again than a 290).

yeah my mate just did it to his 290 and tune at xtreme

full exhaust, herrod cams, CAI, underdrives and he also put a 315 plenum on with twin 60mm throttle bodies and he got 299rwkw

a mate with the 302 motor just pulled 308rwkw with full exhaust, and under drive and that is it
simon at xtreme said he has a freak motor

To my understanding with that sort of power your 5 speed is going to s**t itself anyway. I think they are close to their torque limit as is.

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

No sd1800, the 3650 is actually quite strong. It's just that their shifter is crap. A 6060 is better in terms of strength and shift quality though.

I hope you're right.... so far it's been nothing but a**hole tyre kickers. If it doesn't sell soon I'm going to cut the brackets up and make it fit my 5.0 ED Futura instead.
