I have a problem with my XR8 ute and hoping for any info or possible causes.
Sometimes when starting the car it will run rough and if you look at the exhaust the petrol is just pouring out, if you then turn the car off and back on it will run fine. This can happen at any time while driving and the engine light will come on. Not sure if this is related to the same problem but while driving with the foot steady you can feel the car die off a little and then power back up (not excessive and only just noticable).
So far it has had 3 computers put in (2 main and 1 gas) but I have been told that this could be electrical and Ford would be just copying all the old info from the old comp onto the new one therefore the "problem" would then be on the new computer.
Any advice would be great. Im not ready to give up on it yet

Check all grounding [earth's] ???
Seems like coolant temp senser playing havoc ??
Sounds like it's staying on cold start ...
Injectors need a clean ? Is it a gas LPG conversion ?? ...
Try some inj cleaner ??
Or alittle E10, or both...

Have you actually discovered what fault codes have been set after the check engine light comes on?
When you say "new computer" do you actually know if it's been replaced? Often they'll say s**t like that and they've actually only reflashed the PCM with the latest calibration update. Got a photo of the PCM in the bay?
