is it only since its been lowered
check balance of rear rims/tyres for buckles and check for seperation in the tyres (when the tread starts to come away from the case) it causes and egg shape in the tyre.
if not we'll look elsewhere

Is it an EL?
If it is its a common problem. Lowered ELs drop the pinion too much and it causes the vibration. More noticable with a bootful of stuff or people in the back as it makes the rear drop even further.

I had and EF XR6 with the tickford suspenion, I lowered that even further
and could take the family and all our gear away on holidays with no
problems so I think is not in the lowering.

Maybe jack the rear of the car up on some blocks and do some tests with your mates, put the car in gear let the rear wheels turn get your mates to hope in look and listen for noises to see if its still there note under load

could even be further back up the drive train in the box.

The tickford arms that locate the diff are slightly different in length and thus affect the pinion angle before lowering. So lowering an xr and lowering a non xr cant really be considered equal. You may need to look at changing the pinion angles so that they dont produce these bad harmonics. Either that, or kick everyone out the back :P

Incorrect pinion agle will cause vibration, but as u said it was done to tickford specs so i take it the pinion has already been changed to allow for the lowering. If so i would replace the uni joints as for the past 100,000 k's plus they have worn into the old pinion angle (grooves wear into uni spider/cross)
