Another mod i forgot to mention thats really good bang for buck is getting the lower intake snorkel from an FPV typhoon airbox, its about $70, got one myself. I reckon getting extractors and high flow cats before the flash tune though so you get max gains from the tune  . All that will give it plenty of go  .

i used to get the start up rattle a fair bit and it pssd me off. Then i read somwer around here its the oil filter itself.
So i went along with it and now after changein it like 6 months ago its only rattled like twice.
Bit tip. hunt around for the oil filter with the RED anti drain back valve. not the black ones they are crappy. wich is wat ryco use.
I sourced a american made motorcraft filter from ebay. i think its somthin like fl8020s. not sure. anyway these ones hav the red vallve.
This is somthin cheap you gotta try before doin another $1000 plus repair.

Yeah i have heard about the oil filter being the culprit in some cases, but i must admit i didnt know about the different types of drain back valves? It looks like the K&N Oil Filters use the red/orange one so i may give one of them a try, worth a shot i spose.

car finally back on road :D wallet now $3k lighter for the experience  final probs (sounds like diesel on start up as above) found to be broken pin on l/h bank VCT phasor giving 60 deg movement in timing on first start until oil pressure up - motor now sooo quiet you have to look at tacho to check its running on idle! (yeah std exhaust still). anyway now have replaced timimg chain tensioners and sprockets, 8 new plugs, both VCT phasors (had to get from Fraud as BGT let me down on promised delivery date) and also had injectors and inlet carbon cleaned. 5.4 should be back to optimum factory performance so now can start on mods.... when I have more $
still love the g220.

Well, atleast at the end of the day the cars fixed and running good!! :) I reckon one or both of my phasors need replacing too. I wonder if they upgraded the pins in the phasors so they are less prone to breaking? So did it cost you 3k all up or just for the phasors?
