G'day folks

Looking at sticking some gauges in that really give me some useful info about my BF XR8 (I do long drives to work every day).

Obviously gonna grab one of those SS Inductions 3 gauge holders (are they the best going round atm? Seen some older ones you had to screw in and they looked horrible).

Just wondering on everyones view on what gauges are worth putting in.

I was thinking Oil Pressure and Volts, but what else? I was leaning toward Fuel Pressure (if theres a schrader valve or something in the Boss system to make it easy)

Water temp i don't see much point, i don't need to know the exact temp of my water - Way i see it if the standard gauge moves off where it normally is, then theres a problem.

I thought Oil Temp would be a little redundant if i already had Oil Pressure

Obviously Vac/Boost means nothing to me at this point (maybe much further down the road if it ever gets a blower :P and the instantaneous reading for fuel usage is good enough)

I can see the validity of Air/Fuel mixture gauges, but is it really worth getting for a Unmodded XR8 (or soon will probably just get a generic tune till i move closer to work then it can have a proper tune with more go fast bits)? I thought if the system went too/dangerously lean/rich i'd get a MIL light with a code for it (i can see the point if the Oxy sensors were tuned out and there was no way to know until something happened)

Any views on this would be great, kinda stuck at which gauge and why it'd be important

Cheers

ps, has anyone ever fitted more gauges elsewhere on the car easily that actually look good? Can't really see where you'd mount extra gauges other than a pillar mount which i was told is illegal on road due to obstruction of view or somesuch?)

I agree, but if you must have 3 I'd lean towards a Trans temp gauge (If yours is an auto) be useful if you do any towing.

I'd have Oil pressure, Volts and Trans temp if an auto, or fuel pressure.
I've got Autometer Elite series gauges in my 351 range rover and they are excellent. Programmable colours, outputs, warning colours, peak holds and data logging outputs. They ain't cheap but then nothing else does this much. My trans temp one controls the trans cooler fan.
I'll be putting them in my BA Pursuit when the blower goes on too.
