Hey guys,

Recently picked up a BF GT Cobra (see attached). It feels a bit sluggish on take off.. is this a common thing on the BF GT's? Compared to my father inlaws VZ SS ute... The cobra feels like a slug (although it felt quick when I bought her) despite her 302kw and 540nm.

It also feels like it hesitates when applying throttle. Eg the engine sounds like its assending in rev and then it platos out.. so you have to take your foot off a bit and then hit it again to make it rev. Even in sports shift.

It's done 4500km and I understand the engine probably isnt warn in yet. But I cant help but think its not right.

Booking it in for a service with Ford next week.. but thought I would ask you guys. I am unfamiliar with these engines.

These engines wont have as much grunt down-low as the 5.7 or 6.0l engines. They seem to get up an boogie from 3000rpm an up. I would see what Ford says and go from there. A tune would bring the GT to life though

Hey thanks man, yeah it does pull damn hard when you get it up in the revs - I found to get that "gods hand into the seat) is in the 4000 range and upward. I will ask Ford. It's never had a service, so I'm hoping for a surprise. Maybe a chip and a new exhaust, SS induction intake might help her bottom end.

No chips. Do a search for SCT 3or Xcal3. the sky is the limit.

only thing that will help the bottom end on a boss motor is a PD charger

Positive Displacement Super Charger, the tune will pick up bottom end power and if you do intake an exhaust that can only help.

No picked it up from a family friend. He had three BF Cobras (two utes and the sedan. one ute and sedan was auto and the other was manual) He has two that I can see XC cobra's in various states of repair as well.

Hey man cool!..

I had the cobra dyno'd at 254 rwkw at Kwinana Performance. I asked them about a tune and they rekon its not worth doing! But then I had a mate tell me not to take the car there as they were shonky operators. I've heard good things about BPT though!

there got a s**t more than the 5.4l. I reckon some NA 4cyc would give the 5.4l a run for its money on take off.
