It's been a while since I priced up parts/labour from a speed shop
so when I went to superformance the other day I nearly fell over the price...

I said to the guy I am looking to get a set of gt40P heads "new" from a private seller and a AU explorer manifold..I asked for a suitable roller cam for street use..I asked for the 2031 crane? cam but he suggested another brand which I can't remember sorry..

Anyhow, the suggested with the cam I get a new timing chain "rollmaster"
new valve stems, collect, ect.. and lifters..Total incl fitting $3000-not including the purchase price of the heads and manifold.

Is this a normal figure?

is that assembeld as well? full rebuild or just getting them extra parts for the heads, that cam is mild and shouldnt need much change to the standard valve train if there already "new"

a few comon prices atm

Crane/crow CAM $430/530
Lifters approx $300
Valve componets couldnt see being more then a few hundred, collets etc.

prob be cheaper to get an explorer V8 from an AU

That price is for the extra parts assembled, not a rebuild..
The explorer manifold is from a AU..

The suggested titainium collets ect.. for the heads because of the roller cam..

Well it certainly pays to be hands on in this game. I have saved myself a fortune on parts and labour with my 'budget' buildup on my 5.0L.

They have a roller cam stock from the factory.
