People have had success with fine gravel and detergent... i.e. fill with gravel, water and cleaning agent and shake the thing like a martini.

But results arent perfect... and you'll never get it looking like new. Can purchase new unit from ford.

This is gunna sound dumb but it works! Get a handful of small rocks like the ones people put in their gardens. Block all the holes in the tank and put the rocks in with about half a litre of water. Shake like hell. The rocks loosen the crud up and the crud dissolves into the water. Then empty the water out. Sounds crazy but it is very effective. :P

I picked up a new for my XH from the Ford dealer in Naracoorte for 92 bucks. But I needed a new one cos I split the old one. Tried some from wreckers but the two that I bought split inside a couple of weeks.
