sorry if anyone has asked this before but i wanted to know the difference between the 351 and 302, how can you tell from the outside

If the engine is still factory original apparently you can tell by the numbers on the block and heads. Other than that no. You need to remove a spark plug and measure the stroke 351 is 1/2inch longer than 302. 351 = 3.5" stroke 302 = 3" stroke.

YEP. Chances are if it has an FMX behind it and has 4 barrel carb. Its a 351...

you cant really tell without measureing the stroke as they run the same block and bore size

When they were new it was easy as 302C's had orange rocker covers and 351C's were Ford blue but nowadays either could have either :D
