My 8456 was rebuilt 3 times under warranty as it ran too hot and would cook the TFI module

A quick search of summit show it as part no MSD 8227. See link http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku

Cheers

Does anybody else other than BPT do a TFI module?
Looking at some of these bad reports about the MSD Dizzy, I'm thinking of getting just of getting the cap, coil, and I'd like to change the TFI module?

I've just got the cap, rotor and coil.

Not sure the benefit of the TFI module.

Brett,
so you had the dizzy internals rebuilt? The TFI Module which screws onto it was fine?
Can you get the TFI that seperatly? Or only with the dizzy?
You were reffering to the Blaster coil being plug and play?
Is the TFI module on the dizzy also plug and play?

He said he had the dizzy rebuilt 3 times and the TFI was cooked.

Yes, the MSD blaster coil is plug and play.

^^^As above, just get the cap, coil and leads. will be more than enough for your combo. With the appropiate part numbers you can just order them in from any speed shop. I got all my gear from Star Performance here in Sydney, but have been dealing with AI high Performance(bottledup on FM) since star closed.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the cap and rotor?
Im already running the TFI Blaster coil and have the leads ont he way so the cap and rotor will be the next logical step.
How much better then the factory replacement stuff are they?

I bought my msd around the same time as Brett and had the same problems-gets hot then dies.Sent it back and the TFI was replaced and it did the same thing again.Had a look at it and found the pressed metal piece that provides the signal to the hall effect sensor was just touching in one spot and with heat it would be worse.Sent it back and the tfi and sensor were replace and the steel piece fixed so it did'nt touch and have had no probs since.

rocket ind technicians are'nt all that bright.

For around 12 months I used MSD #8456 dizzy, HVC BlasterII coil (its a big blue mother of a coil), Digital 6 ignition - no problem with any of them.
They are up for grabs -
I am now using Motec M800 with individual LS1 coils mounted on rocker covers, converted an old dizzy for cam angle and mounted a crank angle sensor.
