Tried the ecu and still nothing,the car the ecu came from was made in august 92 so I think its smartlock where mine is around june 92 so one of the first series 2 but without smartlock:(
I know all series 2 were meant to have smartlock but mine didn't. |

I found a place locally that can test both ecus for me,will find out if they are working in a day or 2.
He said they are virtually bulletproof apart from 3 capacitors that leak acid over time. |

That's about right, smartlock came in IIRC late Aug 92 I know all series 2 were meant to have smartlock but mine didn't. Apr - AUG 92 EBII's won't have smartlock. He said they are virtually bulletproof apart from 3 capacitors that leak acid over time. I doubt there's anything wrong with either ECU. They were quite good units in their day (still are today too)- provided they're kept dry.

The ecu guy just called me.
Both ecu,s were stuffed,both had all 3 capacitors leaking acid and ceased to operate. He said mine can be fixed,the wreckers can take theirs back and do what they like with it.... He told me that the early eb ecu had a design flaw with dodgy capacitors leaking over time,the later ecus were meant to be super relaible |

I take yours will have the MAP sensor on the firewall that gives the ECU barometric pressure ?

Its a v8,they don't have a map sensor,only 6 cyl afaik.

Nah, IIRC it must be the EBI V8's that had it, deleted later on, I think the MAF then gave that info just on start up. ecu-fuel-system-eec-f21/what-is-a-bap-sensor-on-an-eb-v8-t22019.html

Edit that,i cant properly remember if my s1 v8 ghia had a map sensor,was too long ago...
Either way my car doesn't have it and with 2 dead ecu,s im goin nowhere fast

Just picked up the freshly repaired ecu and still no go,im also now thinking the ecus had stuff all wrong with them.
Still got barely no voltage to the engine tps and fuel pump runs constantly. Anymore tests you know of that I can do snap? |

I also cant find out which relays are for ecu power and fuel pump,the two top ones under the coolant tank(4 and 5 pin) I have removed both and the pump still runs(just found this out).
Does anyone have a pic? Green and brown relays,i think they are the ones? Ill be replacing the ecu and fuel pump relays tomorrow hopefully if coventrys has them in stock... |

Have you bothered to look at the wiring diagrams in the link I've posted ?
