I have been having a few problems with my XR8 running rough. Just wondering when you disconnect the battery and reset the ECU does it still need to relearn even though I have a powerchip J3 chip? I have always thought that I wouldn't have to do the whole idling for a few minutes in park and then in drive etc etc as I thought that because of the J3 chip all of the values would already be there. Am I right in thinking that?

Yes, it will still need to relearn some basic behaviours which aren't managed by the J3.

That's not strictly true. When a device is plugged into the J3 port it is the only place the EEC looks for calibration data. If powerchip has disabled the adaptive strategy then it will never learn anything. However it is unlikely that they have done this so it should still "learn"(adapt).

I went through the whole relearn idling procedure thing yesterday. Hopefully it will run a bit better.
