Edelbrock 5025 E-street for 351w

Flow Numbers as tested by Edelbrock's SuperFlo SF-1020 flow bench @ 28" H2O
Vlv lift .100" .200" .300" .400" .500" .600" .700"
Intake 65 121 174 216 242 249 -
Exhaust 42 92 130 150 162 168 -

170cc Heads got enough breath for a 351w? Unstroked,Non-ForceInducted setup? Or should I be thinking of spending a bit more on the heads? They advertise good performance from idle to 5500rpm which is ideal for my street set-up, but how will this go with a 351w!?

Also anybody that has had ally heads sent from USA, how much postage you pay to your local major city? wondering cause they are 1700 inc postage from aust and 1000 from usa.

Cheers, Tim.

Tim,

Not sure about the rest of your question, but my entire top end package was $us400 fedex delivery, from Summit. Took about 4-5 days.

They'll be fine for a mild 351. You'll end up paying more to get em direct from the U.S. than the $1700 total to get em here.
Having said that, there is doubt about the quality of the valve train in those heads because they were designed to take on cheap a*** chinese copy heads. I'd spring for the Performer RPM heads instead. I can vouch for the quality of those first hand.

As above, they were released as a direct competitor to the Patriot & Prochump Chinese heads, for anything reasonable Id stongly suggest a spring & retainer upgrade. It might be better to just spend the extra couple of hundred for Performer RPMs or some Trickflows.

If you keep your eye on Summit, every now and then they have the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge 170cc heads on sale for US$995.

Pete, not having a go, but I can't see how he would pay more, buying them direct from the US. Even paying $350 in postage, it'd still come in well under the $1700. Or have I read your post wrong?

Even with the customs/duty or whatever we call it, I think recently it's been reduced. No more 10%, then 5%. It's just 5%, from what I read on the customs site not so long ago.

Just from experience Chad,

I just tried it on summit and the heads were $1299 which makes it $1655 with freight. Even at $995 it's $1350 all up but with all the customs lodgement fees and s**t those freight companies charge plus 22% duty and 10% GST which is charged on the total including the freight cost you'll closer to 2 grand if not over.
5% duty is a new one to me, if that's right it may be cheaper but, they usually have some s**t clause in there to slug you more. Maybe someone who has done this recently can let us know how they went?
I can't help because the stuff I've been buying lately has been deliberately kept under 1k so I don't cop anything.

I bought a pair of Edelbrock RPM heads and they were going to cost 400-450 to freight but a friend wanted some too so I added his to my order and we only paid 250 ish each.

You only pay GST on the pruchice price of the items not freight, which works out to be 11% ish plus a couple of small charges $30 ish for the pleasure of having to pay a customs tax.

Because I went halves in freight the heads were $1560. all up.

A couple of months back I was quoted $1380 for the Estreets from Rocket Industries... I'd have to recheck & see how pricing is now but that to me made it sound more desirable to buy here in Oz...

Likewise check with Fabre Australia, they're the new Trickflow dealer and while they were waiting for stock I did get quoted $1530ish for 170cc Track Heats landed here in Perth...

For Blue Thunder parts try Flatlander Racing in the US, Art Francis (Blue Thunder) is notorious for being impossible to contact, and I've had very little luck with anyone here in Australia when it comes to BT parts.
