the missus wants more power from her ef xr8 and i was looking at an edelbrock performer manifold. anyone else running one and how do you find it. i intend on supercharging it in the next few months also

Are you looking to buy it brand new or can get one at a good price? I don't think you'd see much of a power increase in just changing the manifold on it's own. You'd want to upgrade your heads and get a cam to suit the package. You'll also benefit from tuning it, considering that's what you'll need to do if you put a blower on it anyway.

i hope you're wrong there, i read from US mustang forums that an explorer manifold changeover from the HO should give you 15 kw! without any other mod - don't shoot me i'm just quoting! thats why i got an explorer manifold

I have one in a NC fairlane goes nicely, i also run mine with the spacer between the upper and lower. The AU/Explorer/cobra is cheaper, possibly slightly easier to fit, and nets similar results. there are plenty of dyno sheets around of these manifolds (READ bbk, edelbrock, holley ford motorsport etc.) being fitted to STOCK motors and netting 30-38 hp improvement over previous power peak (READ 4800-5000 rpm), in terms of every day driving (1000-3000rpm) there are still gains but nowhere near 30-38 hp :D
supercharging/stroking it would certainly get more power. .
if you are looking at smaller mods to do before supercharging it, put a crane hi6 and coil in, made a big improvement in every day driving, more power in the 1000-3000rpm and slightly better economy (.5L over 100k) Peak power i don't think it made to much difference but i was pleasantly surprised at the every day driveability. And it will be of benefit when you supercharge it and need the extra punch to ignite the mix. . :D
