hey folks
i have just been offered a set of el gt extractors
factory ceramic coated
near new
what is the difference in these and the crap i have on my car now
in the pics they dont look so restrictive as mine
would these be any good for my car
i was going to go with after market extractors but might go these now as they have been offered to me
but is there much gain in the exhaust note and performance to be had?

as an exhaust shop told me there pointless as i wont see a gain out of them and im better off with aftermarket extractors
but then some people have told me these are a good investment

also is there any problems i would have in fitting these up?
my guess is i shouldnt as there all e7's until the au so i spose i should be right and would i have to use 45 or 90 degree boots or could i just use the stock 1's
please
help

lol
cheers
Drifty

what do you have on there now? stock manifolds?
depends on how much price gap between the elgt extractors and an aftermarket set i guess.

You're better off with 4>2>1s with a stock motor. Better lower end torque and they'll sound better. ELGT extractors sound tinny and the design really benefits a higher revving motor. But if you can get them and put it in for say less than $150 then still better than what you have.

I say get them, deffinately better than the stock manifold. And those that have heard my system wouldn't describe it as "tinny".
Your note will deffinatley improve and anything other than the crap stockie's should improve flow, hence more power. May not be a big increase but it will be better.

I noticed at the last AFD in Sydney you had a set of EL GT extractors on your car NCIILANE, i also had them on a EF 5L i once owned, in the long run helps heaps with fuel economy and gets rid of hot gasses much faster than the old EB crushed ones. also if you can get your hands on a pair of stock 5L BA or BF stock cats that will help also as they have a bigger flow to your EB ones.

EL GT extractors are all ceramic coated that Grey colour, that makes them last s**t loads longer and stops them from rusting and keeps them much cooler and the gasses flow faster.

As for fitting them they should not charge you no more that $250 to fit them and mod your cats to fit, they have to cut the front pipe off the cats and weld a flange on them, that’s it so if they go to charge you more that $250 go to merylands budget zorst they do it for about $250

As for gain you will notice throtle responce will be a little more touchier, if you do the EF thermofans with it.

They will fit up to the E7s easy, they will also fit the GT40s and 40p heads just means when you have to change spark plugs you have to unbolt the extractors to do it.

thats my 2c worth.

Yep! I don't have a problem with them and have no plan on changing them anytime soon. The EL GT's combined with the custom twin system give it a very deep unique sound.....I love it the way it is.
Thanks for the tip on the BA/BF cats too, I was planning on replacing mine with high flow "MetalCatz", but they are very pricey ($900 a pair). I'll see if I can get my hands on a set.

Last I was talking to Drifty, he got jipped on the purchase of the pipes and the seller sold them to somebody else. Better jump on them if you get another chance next time Drifty :P
Cheers,
Mick
