Gday guys....just had a frustrating day trying to fix a minor leak in my EL V8....WTF were they thinking when they designed this thing? Where the leak is is where the two heater hoses go into the back of the driver side head( ???) - they used those crappy spring loaded clamps and both are leaking slightly....what, on an earlier motor, would be an easy 5 minute fix is a total nightmare....to complicate this mine is on gas and the hoses they tee'd into were these two at the back of the motor so where you have virtually no room theres even less on this car...

All I'm wanting to do is hopefully remove the two spring clamps on these two hoses, put a bit of permatex goop in the hoses to help seal them up and put on some regular worm drive clamps. In a pinch i'll settle for just removing the spring clamps and putting on worm drives - I reckon, given the room, I've got buckleys of getting those hoses off anyway.....I'm struggling trying to even get the spring clamps off! Theres just no room to get anything on them - I reckon I'll need to get one of these remote action hose clamp pliers....

Anyone been up against this before?? Any helpful hints to share??

Two small screws hold the plaque on the top manifold. You'll need a Torx driver to remove them. Then, there's 6 bolts that hold the upper manifold on. The mild steel heater bypass pipes are quite thin so be careful removing the hoses.
