Hi all,

i have a white manual xr8 that dies suddenly sometimes. Im assuming its a sensor. But if someone could point me in the right direction. It will just stall if at a set of lights out of the blue, then be hard to start again.

Cheers

That could be so many things it's not funny.
Do a self test first but in the absence of any other info it could be your fuel pump.

Check the camshaft angle sensor. Seen them fail too. Try chucking a fuel pressure gauge on when it dies to ensure you have sufficent pressure...

I had a quick look at it today. When its cold it runs fine as the revs are up around 1000rpm. Once its warm, the revs fluctuate alot, misses and revs go down to 500rpm and sometimes dying.

I thought it could be a idle issue, so i cleaned out the ISC. But this wouldnt cause it being hard to start.

So im thinking its either the tfi module on the dizzy, fuel pump or filter or maybe another sensor hiding somewhere causing havoc.

What do you think Pete? I'll try and do a self test tomorrow.

Sounds TFI'y or coil or possibly Hall Effect but could still be fuel pump because they often start bypassing when hot.
Got a spare dizzy to chuck in it?

Used to, might have a hunt around. Ill see what the self test rattles off, might give me a better understanding before i start replacing dizzys, sensors and fuel pumps.

If its the fuel pump ill smash a bosch 044 in. If its the coil ill probly go aftermarket. Might as well upgrade it now than when i need it down the track.

I've got about 5 of em kickin around here...bit far for you though:)
An 044 is going to need a lot of mods to the bracket to fit it and there's not point if you aren't going to use the extra fuel?
